Consulting EUTH Project: Enhancing Social Inclusion for Youth Migrants and Refugees in Europe through Co-Designing Policies

The past decade has seen a sharp rise in the number of youth migrants and refugees in Europe. According to Eurostat, in 2021, the European Union (EU) reported a record high of over 4 million first-time asylum seekers since 2015. The social inclusion of youth migrants and refugees has become a pressing issue for European societies. To address this issue, the consortium has launched the Consulting EUTH project. This project aims to enhance the level of social inclusion of youth migrants and refugees by co-designing policies through the setting up of consultative bodies at the local and European level.

The project aims to facilitate the participation of youth migrants and refugees in the decision-making process at both local and European levels. The project involves the setting up of consultative bodies that bring together representatives of local authorities, civil society organizations, and youth migrants and refugees themselves. These bodies will work together to co-design policies that enhance their social inclusion. The consultative bodies set up under the CEUTH project aim to promote the active participation of youth migrants and refugees in the decision-making process. This participation will provide valuable insights into the challenges that youth migrants and refugees face in European societies. It will also enable policymakers to understand the needs and aspirations of this group and develop policies that respond to their specific situations.

The setting up of consultative bodies at the local level is a key feature of the CEUTH project. Local bodies such as the Municipality of Larissa in collaboration with Innovation Hive, will bring together representatives from local authorities, civil society organizations, and youth migrants and refugees in the region and will work together to co-design policies that are relevant to the specific context of the city. By facilitating the participation of youth migrants and refugees in the decision-making process, policymakers can develop policies that respond to the needs and aspirations of this group.

In conclusion, the Consulting EUTH project is a valuable initiative that has the potential to enhance the social inclusion of youth migrants and refugees in Europe. By co-designing policies through the setting up of consultative bodies at the local and European level, policymakers can ensure that policies are inclusive and responsive to the specific needs of youth migrants and refugees. The active participation of youth migrants in the decision-making process is a crucial element of this initiative. By working together, we can create policies that support the social inclusion of this group and promote their full participation in European societies
