Youth are the future of any society, and their potential is a valuable resource that must be harnessed for the benefit of everyone. In the European Union (EU) and partner countries, youth have identified a need for tools, networking, best practices, and competences to realize their potential and participate more actively in civic life. This is where the COHERENT project comes in, with its main objective to increase youth participation in civic life related to youth goals, foster cross-border mobility, and increase youth cooperation in projects.
One of the main challenges that youth face today is a reluctance to engage in collaboration outside their local environment. COHERENT seeks to address this issue by creating structured and coordinated networking opportunities, encouraging the exchange of ideas and information through experience sharing. By doing so, the project aims to empower youth to participate more strongly in decision-making processes, be heard, and create more efficient cooperative solutions and projects. Through this empowerment, youth can use their full potential to shape our common future. The COHERENT project is designed to provide innovative and specialized competences to youth, preparing them for life by making them more informed and aware of opportunities in civic participation, democratic life, sustainability, and inclusiveness. The project is based on the idea that by empowering youth with the right tools and competences, they can create positive change and contribute to building a better future for themselves and their communities. By fostering cross-border mobility and increasing youth cooperation in projects, COHERENT provides opportunities for young people to broaden their horizons, gain new experiences, and develop a more global perspective. This is essential for youth to thrive in today’s interconnected world and build relationships across borders that can benefit everyone.
In this context the COHERENT project successfully completed its mission of empowering youth in the EU and partner countries. As part of it, a group of students from the University of Thessaly participated in an “Open Dialogue Session” event on November 8, 2022. The purpose of this session was to engage in a dialogue-debate on the topic of politics in the country. The students aimed to take a stance on the practice of politics in their country and reflect on how young people can represent themselves better. The ultimate goal of the session was to emphasize that no one can represent young people better than themselves. A second part of the “Open Dialogue Session” event took place in major cities of Europe. Participants had the opportunity to share their experiences, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. They also discussed the challenges and opportunities for youth engagement in civic life related to the youth goals, cross-border mobility, and cooperation in projects.
In conclusion, COHERENT is an important project that aims to empower youth in the EU and partner countries. By providing them with the tools and competences they need to succeed, the project helps to create a more inclusive and sustainable future for all. It is time to recognize the value of youth as a resource and provide them with the support they need to thrive. Together, we can build a brighter future for all.
