The digital transformation of vocational education and training (VET) has brought about significant changes in the role of VET teachers and trainers. To support them in adapting to these changes, the RESTART – VET project was initiated. This innovative approach aimed to create a digital competence map and a training curriculum to help VET teachers and trainers develop the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively integrate technology into their teaching.
The Restart VET project consisted of two main intellectual outputs (IOs). The first IO1, focused on developing a digital competence map that describes the profile of VET teachers and trainers in terms of their digital skills. This map was developed using a comprehensive and standardized methodology to ensure that the skills and knowledge of VET teachers and trainers were accurately assessed. The second IO2, focused on developing a training curriculum for VET teachers and trainers on e-learning methods and provided digital techniques. This curriculum was designed to provide VET teachers and trainers with the skills and knowledge they needed to effectively integrate technology into their teaching. The curriculum covered a range of topics, including the use of digital resources, the creation of online learning materials, and the use of digital assessment methods.
The project is now completed, and held its multiplier event to communicate the results of the project, its goals, and what has been implemented so far. The multiplier event provided an opportunity for stakeholders in the VET sector to learn about the digital competence map and the training curriculum developed by the project and give their insight. The event also highlighted the importance of supporting VET teachers and trainers in developing their digital competencies and integrating technology into their teaching.
In conclusion, the Restart VET project has provided a vital contribution to the VET sector by addressing the challenges of the digital transformation in education. Its innovative approach has not only created a digital competence map and a training curriculum for VET teachers and trainers but also raised awareness of the importance of digital competencies in teaching.
