Social Inclusion of Women Through Global Competencies: The ADVANCE Project

In today’s globalized world, having a set of global competencies has become increasingly important. These competencies, such as cross-cultural communication and understanding diverse perspectives, not only improve our interactions with people from different cultures but also enhance our ability to address global issues. However, not everyone has equal access to these competencies, especially disadvantaged women who face various barriers to social inclusion and employment opportunities. That’s where the ADVANCE project comes in.

The project is a collaborative effort between several organizations, including Kagithane Ilce Milli Egitim Mudurlugu and  EYUP HEM in Turkey, INNOVATION HIVE in Greece, and Asociatia Romana de Literatie în România. The partnership conducted its Kick Off Meeting online, and at this moment the implementation of the first activity (creation of educational material for the training of women) is completed. The consortium has also moved on to the implementation of the second activity (creation of educational material for the training of professionals working with the disadvantaged women).

However, the project consists of several activities (As), including creating training content for disadvantaged women and adult trainers on the importance of global competencies, recognizing different perspectives and worldviews, communicating effectively across cultures, and taking action for active citizenship and sustainable development. More specifically, Activity A1 aims to create training content for disadvantaged women on why global competence matters and how to examine issues of local, global, and cultural significance. By providing this training, the ADVANCE project aims to foster the global competencies of disadvantaged women, which can contribute to their social inclusion and employability. Activity A2 is aimed at creating training content for adult trainers who work with disadvantaged women. This will ensure that the training content is effectively implemented. Activity A3 involves piloting the training with disadvantaged women. The goal is to test the effectiveness of the training and make any necessary adjustments before moving forward with wider implementation. Activity A4 is the creation of an e-learning platform for the training content. The platform will be tested with adult trainers to ensure that it is effective and user-friendly. Finally, Activity A5 involves management activities to ensure the smooth running of the project and the achievement of its goals. By providing these women with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate cultural differences and effectively communicate across cultures, the project aims to contribute to their social inclusion and employability.

In conclusion, the ADVANCE project is an important step towards ensuring the social inclusion of disadvantaged women through the development of global competencies. By equipping them with these skills, we can help bridge cultural divides and promote a more inclusive and equitable society.
